A recession is not a good excuse to stop marketing. Here are 5 marketing tactics that cost less than $500.
I'd love your feedback on creative ways you are extending your marketing budget through these tight times. I will continue to post more of these ideas. Remember - marketing doesn't have to be expensive, but it does have to be relevant.
- Start a Blog. Wordpress and Blogger are two free blog platforms you can use to get started. This is a great tool to give prospective clients a glimpse of your organization's brand. Indianapolis based Compendium is also a good tool. (note: this is a paid service)
- Write an article. If you're good enough, you can even get paid to do this. Write an article or white paper on a relevant, industry specific topic and how your company is responding. Send it to your local newspaper and on-line news publications. Also, seek out industry specific outlets. This is a great way to be seen as a thought leader.
- Send an email. Because of the proliferation of WYSIWYG editors, HTML email providers are coming down in their pricing. Constant Contact and Delivera are two very cost effective options. Collect a list of contacts, ensure they are opt-in, and begin messaging them relevant content. Topics could include: weekly tips or monthly newsletters.
- Gather Feedback and Referrals. Sometimes the most meaningful information can come from existing clients. Use Survey Monkey to develop and send out customer feedback surveys. Follow-up with a phone call to close the loop on any outstanding issues and thank clients for their feedback if you've done a great job. This is also an excellent time to ask for referrals.
- Conduct a webinar. Webinar = Web Seminar. These on-line seminars can be an excellent way for you to spotlight your organization's capabilities, highlight case studies or launch a new product feature. Go To Meeting and Webex are two leading providers.
